NIE, TIE, cita previa and the rest — explained in plain English.
- NIE
- Número de Identidad de Extranjero — the one-off identification number Spain gives to every foreigner.
- TIE
- Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero — the plastic residence card carried by non-EU residents.
- Cita previa
- The compulsory advance appointment you must hold before most Spanish public offices will see you.
- Empadronamiento
- Getting your name onto the municipal roll (padrón) at your address in Sevilla.
- EX-15
- The application form you submit to request your NIE.
- EX-17
- The application form you submit to request your TIE.
- Modelo 790-012
- The payment slip that settles the state fee charged for issuing a NIE or TIE.
- Autónomo
- A freelancer registered with both the Spanish tax authorities and the social security system.
- Número de soporte
- The support / IXESP reference on your card or certificate, used to verify you online.
- NUSS
- Número de la Seguridad Social — your personal Spanish social security number.
- Autorización de regreso
- A short-lived permit letting you re-enter Spain while your residence card is expired or mid-renewal.
- Padrón
- The municipal register of inhabitants kept by every ayuntamiento (town hall).
- Gestoría
